83, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2014. He was born in Laredo, Texas on June 6, 1931 to Alejandro and Conception (Avila) Sandoval. Humberto was a resident of Socorro for about 44 years. After graduating from Laredo Martin High School in 1949, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served until 1952 as Senior Radio Mechanic and Operator. On June 20, 1954, Humberto married his high school sweetheart, Anita Flores. Humberto's love for electronics encouraged him to attend college in Michigan and at Laredo Junior College where he studied Electronic Engineering. The combination of his education and experience led him to a Radio Wave Engineer career in the Civil Service for over 25 years. After retiring from the Federal Aviation Agency while in Socorro, he worked in the GEODS division at White Sands Missile Range and TERA at NMIMT. Humberto was also very active in his community. He served in the local Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a devout member and volunteer in the San Miguel Church. His hobbies included repairing radios, televisions, and cars; hunting, camping and fishing at the NM State Parks and at Elephant Butte with his children. He also was an avid writer and pianist. He authored many poems and short stories and composed multiple musical pieces. Most importantly, Humberto was a devoted family man, a loyal husband and father. His love and faith in the Lord was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his brother, Alejandro Jr., and his sister, Minerva Robles. Humberto is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anita Sandoval; his beloved children, Gerry; David and wife, Kathy; Belinda; Daniel and wife, Barbara Jo; Ruby and husband, Bill Charlton; Lonnie and wife, Anna; Mary and husband, Gary Clayton; step-sister, Martha; and many other loving family members. Humberto loved and was very proud of his 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Immediately following the Mass, Military Honors will be presented at the Blue Star Memorial Veterans' Park, 404 Park Street, Socorro. Pallbearers are Gerry Sandoval, David Sandoval, Daniel Sandoval, and Lonnie Sandoval. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Charlton, Gary Clayton, and  all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
