Hutson Lee Ratliff Jr. passed away on January 1, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 83. He was born on August 9, 1941, in Burlington, North Carolina, to Hutson Leroy Ratliff and Eris Doris Gant.
Hutson pursued his education at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. His dedication to service saw him join the U.S. Air Force, where he completed Officers Basic Training and eventually retired as a Captain after 24 years of honorable service. Throughout his military career, he was proud to receive the National Defense Service Medal.
On September 16, 1980, Hutson married Betty Darlene Ruth in Wichita, Kansas, with whom he shared a loving life. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Darlene Ruth, stepson Douglas Arnold Miller, step daughter Tamara Stone, brothers, Steve, Leon, and Eddie Ratliff, as well as his parents, Hutson Leroy Ratliff Sr. and Eris Doris Gant.
Hutson is survived by his daughter, Sandra L. Mboh and husband Paul Mboh of Gainesville, VA; step-daughters, Kathryn Lackmann and husband Larry Lackman of Spring Branch, TX, and Rebekah Ann Maycock of Roanoke, VA; brothers, Terry Ratliff and Phillip Ratliff, both of Burlington, NC; sister, Lisa Ratliff Roper of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Hutson Mboh and Peter Mboh; and great-grandchildren, Mack Mboh, Devin Mboh, and Kennedy Mboh.
A devoted professional, he worked for Science Applications International Corporation for 33 years and was an esteemed Elder at the Restoration Ministries Church, where he contributed significantly to his community. He also supported various charities, including organizations for World War II veterans, World Vision, Disabled American Veterans and Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Services in his honor will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Restoration Ministries Church, followed by burial at Park Hill Cemetery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Hutson Lee Ratliff Jr. will be remembered for his commitment to service, family, and community.
