BROFSKY- Hyman Brofsky, 84, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on March 23, 2011. Mr. Brofsky was born on June 28, 1926 to Harry and Shirley (Kaylie) Brofsky of Brooklyn, NY. He proudly served in the US Army and was a World War II Veteran. He attended the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He married Elaine Abraskin in 1949 in Queens, NY. Mr. Brofsky was a representative of the New York Police Department for President John F. Kennedy’s funeral security detail. In 1972, he retired from the New York Police Department as a Lieutenant. While residing in Rio Rancho, he is a Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge, was Co-Commander of the Jewish War Veterans, and a volunteer at the Rio Rancho Senior Center. Mr. Brofsky was preceded in death by his brothers, Morris David Brofsky, Phillip Brofsky, and Irving Brofsky. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Brofsky; sons, Allan Brofsky and Jeffrey Brent Brofsky, all of Rio Rancho, NM; granddaughter, Audrianna; and a brother, Sheldon Brofsky of Miami, FL. The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, with Rabbi Deborah J. Brin, presiding. Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, Rio Rancho.
