Gallegos, Ida Mae

Age 82, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Socorro, NM on May 9, 1935, to Samuel and Adella (McCullough) Atencio Sr. Ida was a lifelong resident of Socorro and graduated from Socorro High School. Ida married Larry Gallegos, her high school sweetheart. She and her husband Larry enjoyed going to the horse races in Ruidoso and they loved to dance. They owned Sam's trailer park in Socorro and also owned Larry's Texaco for many years. Ida was devoted to her family and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Ida will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Atencio and Adella McCullough; sister, Francine Muniz, and brother, Samuel Atencio, Jr.. Ida is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry Gallegos; nephews, Sam Gallegos, Frank Martin, Pat Salome, Anton Salome, Charles Gallegos, Michael Gallegos, and many others; nieces, Natalie Muniz, Michaela Muniz, Summer Muniz, Donna Lisa Thais, and many others; sister-in-laws, Jeanette Atencio, Marina Gallegos, and Gloria Thais; brother-in-laws, Dennis (Amy) Gallegos, Luciano (Tercila) Gallegos, and Herbert Muniz; cousin, Debbie Wood and many others. Rosary to be recited on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 10:00 am at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with Mass of Resurrection to follow at 10:30 am, Celebrant Father Stephen Hickman. Burial will take place at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following service. Pallbearers are Frankie Martin, Charles Gallegos, Pat Salome, Anton Salome, Manuel Pino, and Loren Tafoya.
