Ida Gail Organick

Ida Gail Organick passed away on December 28, 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 75. She was born on February 12, 1935 in Ft. Defiance, Arizona, to Joseph Leo Gail and Hazbah Margaret Shirley Gail. She was a citizen of the Dine Nation, born for the Tsenijikini clan and into the Tachiinii clan. Mrs. Organick was a former Miss Navajo, 1953. She was a former board member for the Miss Navajo Pageant and a past member of the Haddasah of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mrs. Organick travelled extensively in North America, Asia, Europe, and Central America. She was also an activist for numerous causes. But for those who knew her best, she will always be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, and a loving and generous person. Her sense of humor will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Mrs. Organick is survived by her children: Desbah Pilette and her husband, Dr. Gregory Pilette, of Albuquerque, NM, Aliza Gail Organick and her husband, David W. Bury, of Lawrence, KS, Shoshana Organick of Red Lake, AZ, and Benjamin Louis Kee Organick, of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by one sister, Nellie G. Kenny of Red Lake, AZ, five grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Dr. Avrum B. Organick, who passed away in 2007. Also preceding her were her parents, Joseph and Hazbah Gail and six brothers; George Dodge, Willie Yazzie, Albert Gail, Frank Gail, Thomas Gail, and Richard Gail. Private graveside services were held at 11.00 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at the family plot in Red Lake, AZ. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
