Imogene F. “Gene” (Gardner) Holliday passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM. She was 95 years old.
She was born on May 3, 1929, in Monmouth, IL, the middle child of George and Maude Gardner. They preceded her in death along with her husband of 45 years, Bill, younger brother, Willis Gardner and a nephew, Ray DelZotto.
She is survived by daughters; Nancy A. Holliday-Albuquerque, NM, Liz Gardner (Dan Harris)- Galesburg, IL. Grandchildren, Lindsay Rapea (Shoni)- Albuquerque, NM. Sam Gardner- Los Angeles, CA. Great Granddaughters, Abby, Olivia, and Beth Rapea- Albuquerque, NM. Older sister, Celinda (Cindy) DelZotto (97 years)- Lakewood, CO. Nieces and nephews, Fran Holliday, Sarah Gardner, Charles Gardner, Jim Holliday, Bill Holliday and six cousins.
She attended her school years in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth College in 1951 with a BA in Psychology. Teaching school in California, Illinois, and New Mexico.
When she lived in Santa Rosa, NM she obtained her Real Estate License. She was always active in PEO and Pi Phi no matter where she lived.
Gene enjoyed reading, swimming, writing poetry (following in her mother’s footsteps) playing bridge and knitting which was her first love. Countless afghans were made for family and charities.
Mrs. Holliday was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, NM, and Ordained Elder.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
Per her wishes cremation was accorded by Daniels Family Funerals and Cremation- Wyoming Chapel, Albuquerque, NM.
