Irene Montoya

MONTOYA - Irene Montoya, 86, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and Godmother, was called home to be with the Lord, September 1, 2009, while surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born November 30, 1922 in Algodones, New Mexico NM, to the late Alejandro Archibeque and Lucinda Baldonado. Irene lived in the North Valley for many years where she was an active parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church, and a the Alter Society. Irene was currently a parishioner of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, and an active member of the Alter Society and Senior Group. Irene was a loving and warm person who enjoyed taking care of her family. She will be lovingly remembered as caring, generous and devoted to her family and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Juan (John) in February of this year; granddaughter Angelica Baca; and son-in-law Tom Droelle. Irene is survived by her children whom she was so proud of, Fred Montoya and wife Grace, Vicky Baca and husband Henry, Vera Gurule and Lidio Holguin, Gloria Droelle, Mary Lou Trias, Pedro Trias, Rhoda Berry, a very close neighbor, Angelita Cazares, a dear friend and Manuelita, a very loving caregiver; eleven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 58 Godchildren; and numerous other loving family members and a host of friends. Irene will truly be missed by all those whose hearts she touched. Casket bearers will be Ronnie Gonzales, Ronald Baca, Tom Droelle, Carl Pino, Marvin Archibeque and Matthew Montoya. Honorary casket bearers will be Derik Baca and Jason Montano.
