J.A. Harmon, 84 0f Bloomfield, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. He was born June 5, 1925, in Charleston, W.Va., to Gus and Icy (Dunlap) Harmon. He was raised in Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school in Cushing. He arrived in Farmington in 1956 as a pipeliner and continued to work in the trade until the mid 1970s. At that time, he became semiretired from pipelining and began to get more involved in his love of horse racing. As an owner, he enjoyed running his horses, mostly in New Mexico and Phoenix. After health issues in 1990, he gradually got out of horse racing to enjoy the rest of his life at a slower pace. He spent much of his time watching the simulcast races at Sunray park with his friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Rosa; half-sister, Gwen Murphy; son Jack and his wife, Karen; stepdaughter, Peggy Robinson and her son Joe; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He did not want to interrupt the daily activities of his family and friends so he requested no services. In his memory, please send donations to Good Samaritan Society Four Cornes Village, 500 Care Lane, Aztec, NM 87410. Arrangements are with
