J. Patrick Lynch

May 16, 1963 — November 1, 2008

J. Patrick Lynch died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at his home from complications of diabetes. J. Pat struggled with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes since his early teens. He was found in his easy chair watching football. J. Pat is the son of Janeanne Garcia (aka) Bodine Jones) and stepfather Larry Garcia of Farmington, and Kevin Lynch of New York. J. Pat attended Swinburne Elementary, Tibbetts Jr. High and is a 1981 graduate from Farmington High School. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He worked for many large companies including McDonnell Douglas and Boeing, and currently was employed by the Wood Group located in Farmington. Although NMSU was important to J. Pat, it was Farmington High that had a special place in his heart. He held on strongly to the ties he made at FHS. He lettered in almost all sports at FHS, he was the Senior Class President and never forgot it. The camaraderie of his classmates was deeply rooted inside him and he went to great length to keep those connections alive. He spent many great times over the years with them and cherished them all. J. Pat was a hometown boy who loved the Connie Mack World series and always took his younger cousins and nephew. J. Pat enjoyed playing horseshoes with his family and friends at his home. He was an encyclopedia of sports trivia which he enjoyed discussing with his many friends. J. Pat was passionate about his work and he liked talking about his job, although most of us did not understand what he was talking about. It was not unusual for J. Pat to be mistaken for Mick Jagger when he walked into a party, K.B. Dillon's or a class reunion. The crowd would go crazy as Joel Racheff strummed his guitar behind him. J. Pat was diagnosed with colon cancer in July of 2008. He had a large mass removed and just recently found out he was cancer free. After surviving cancer, J. Pat had found a new lease on life. He was happy and positive. He was at peace and it radiated from him. He was an inspiration. He loved and adored his sister, his mother and his grandma. His brothers and his stepfather, Larry, were his heroes. J. Pat is survived by his mother Janeanne Garcia (aka Bodine Jones) and stepfather, Larry Garcia; grandmother, Doris Neuenschwander; older brother, Tom Lynch (wife Patsy); niece, Jamie Lee Lynch and nephew, Zach Lynch; older brother, Charlie Lynch;, sister, Amanda Garcia and half sisters, Antoinette, Kathy and her daughter; half brother, Jimmy; Uncle Steve and Aunt Rosemary; in addition to many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Kevin Lynch; and grandfather, Ed Neuenschwander (Mr. Ed). There is so much to be said about J. Pat Lynch that I don't think The Daily Times has the print space. Please attend services that will be held for J. Pat as the stories will fly. Pallbearers are Gabe Lucero, Joel Racheff, Brian Heath, and Carl McElhaney, with Charles Lynch presiding. Honorary pallbearers are Kim Black, Steve Garcia, Tripp Schwab, Lyle (Coo) Kennedy, Darrell Bueten, Rich Wallace, His fantasy football league, Armijo Open Gang and FHS Fighting Scorpions. There will a party immediately following at Pat's place. Details will be provided. In lieu of flowers please visit www.jpatlynch.com for a list of charities. Arrangements are through Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home 103 E. Ute St. Farmington, NM (505) 325-8688
