JACK DEAN DEWEY, 77, a resident of Farmington since 1989 passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009 surrounded by his family. Jack was born June 20, 1932 in Sheridan, Wyoming the son of Clayton Wilson Dewey and Eva Mae (Cook) Dewey. Jack was the third of six children. He was preceded in death by parents and a sister Joan Plumb. Jack is survived by his brothers and sisters Jerry Dewey of Loveland, CO, Judy and Bob Bergh of Lake Benton, MN, Joyce and Kenneth Billings of Marshfield, WS, Jay and Jeannie Dewey of Lakewood, CO; his children Arlene Porr and husband Larry of Albuquerque, Arthur Dewey of Virginia, Cella Dewey of Albuquerque, Karen Halbritter of Las Vegas, NV, Bobbie Lewis and husband Edward of Rio Rancho, NM, Bryon Dewey and wife Isela of El Paso, TX and their mother Wilma Irene Berry; wife, Mildred (Townsend) Dewey of Farmington and her children Cindy Fuller and husband Mike of Aztec, NM, Elinor Brown and husband Bob and Amanda Tafoya and husband Andy all of Farmington; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many dear friends. Jack married Mildred Townsend on November 5, 1977 and later their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 15, 1978. He was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1977. Most recently Jack and Mildred were members of the Farmington 1st Ward where he held many positions in the church. Jack loved the outdoors and especially fishing and sailing. He loved working with the scouting program and did this for over 20 years in several capacities from leader to just being with their sons and grandsons. Jack was a veteran and served in the US Army and received the following decorations and medals: Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze stars and the distinguished Unit Citation. Later Jack attended at Wyoming University and received this bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Jack was employed with US Geological Survey for many years as a hydrologist and retired in 1987. Jack will greatly missed by all his family and friends. Pallbearers are Andrew Stauffer, Sam Stauffer, Preston Knight, Jeff Duncan, Cooper Dewey, William Lewis and Thomas Halbritter. Honorary pallbearers are Jared Stauffer, Ryan Frost, Edward Lewis. Jr., Michael Fuller, Robert Brown, Andy Tafoya, Jerry Dewey, Jay Dewey, Larry Porr, Arthur Dewey, Edward Lewis, Kenneth Billings, and Robert Bergh.
