Jack Allen James Jr. passed away on November 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, passion, and adventure. Born in North Carolina, Jack moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, at age 5, where he spent the remainder of his life. He is survived by his beloved family: daughter Krissy James, son Nicholas James, granddaughter Cruzita James, and great-granddaughter Ekko James.
At just 17, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country in the Vietnam War. A fierce competitor and accomplished martial artist, Jack achieved a 9th-degree Dan in Karate and won the title of National Champion over two dozen times. As President of the Police Athletic League, he taught and mentored many in the art of karate. During his years of practice, he crossed paths with several notable figures, including Chuck Norris—an encounter that would become one of his favorite stories to share.
Jack was a man of varied talents and passions. Beyond karate, he embraced other forms of Martial Arts, took to the Tango, and enjoyed capturing the world around him through his lens. An avid photographer, he often ventured into the deserts of southern New Mexico with his camera, camping out under the stars in the back of his cherished truck.
Known for his keen sarcasm and gentle, loving spirit, Jack pursued excellence in all he did. He took pride in his koi pond, rare lotuses, and carefully tended rose bushes in his backyard oasis. His Mustang, motorcycle, and truck were his treasures, reflecting his love for the open road and adventure.
An aficionado of cinema, Jack amassed a collection of over 60,000 movies, especially Westerns, many preserved on DVD and even Beta. He was also a dedicated student, earning a Master’s Degree in Business from the University of New Mexico, and always sought to grow and better himself.
Jack will be remembered for his humor, his dedication, and the impact he made on those who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
