Jack Lobberegt, 86, passed away on February 6, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, June, and survived by his children Nancy Newman and husband, Jerry, and Greg Lobberegt and wife, Kathryn; three grandchildren, Jeremy and wife, Suzette, Rebecca and Jackson; six great-grandchildren, Alek, Peyton, Cameron, Jaxson, Clarissa and Trevor (he was “Grandpa Tricks” because of his many magic tricks!); brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Margaret; sister Joanne, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Dad was born June 23, 1930 in Seattle, Washington. He became a butcher at 13 when most of the men were off to war. In 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, June, and headed off to the Korean War. Upon his return, they made a life in Portland, Oregon, where Dad became a salesman for Kaiser Gypsum and raised their family. They enjoyed golf, dancing, bridge and traveling the world! They always loved Albuquerque and moved to be close to Greg. They immediately built a house in Tanoan and joined the Country Club where they met many incredible people. Everybody loved Dad. He was always cheerful, funny, helpful, kind and NEVER had a bad day in his life! He always put a smile on people’s faces and made friends with everyone he met.
One of the last things he told us was that “I can’t wait to hold your mother in my arms!” You got your wish, Dad.
In lieu of flowers, Dad’s wish was to “put your hand on each other’s shoulders, especially those in need of your help”.
Services, or a Celebration of his Life, will be held sometime this spring, so if you would like to attend, please let Greg know.
