Jack Ernest Thomas slipped peacefully from his physical life on February 17, 2021. He began his journey in Dayton, Ohio on October 26, 1942. Throughout his 78 years traversing this life he wore many titles proudly: His Mother’s Son, Electric Company Lineman, Union Man (IBEW & UWUA), Golfer, Motorcyclist, Sandoval County Commissioner, Golfer, Rio Rancho City Councilor, State Representative, Golfer, Retiree, Good Neighbor, Staunch Democrat, Doting Dachshund Daddy, Faithful Friend. And Jack would want us to mention GOLFER! But the titles he wore most proudly were Beloved Husband of Patty and Adored Father of Karen.
Left to cherish his memories and mourn his passing are his wife of over 57 years, Patty and his daughter, Karen and his many friends who, we hope, will continue to speak of and share his good deeds, his easily shared and booming laughter, his opinions of which he was not shy to express, his epic political discussions, and his legendary and heroic tales of golf shots made and those just missed.
Cremation has taken place. Per Jack’s wishes (he could be stubborn) there will be no services. If you want to remember Jack do it with a kind deed for someone in need or make a donation to Watermelon Mountain Ranch, a no kill animal shelter in Rio Rancho for which Jack was a proud sponsor at 1380 Rio Rancho Blvd., Ste 374, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Or do both! And one final request, should his golfing buddies make a hole in one please yell to the universe that that was for Jack!
