Jacob B. Jake"" Montoya

MONTOYA - Jacob B. “Jake” Montoya Sr., 77, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. Jake was born on October 20, 1933 in Socorro, NM to Antonio E. and Sadie (Barela) Montoya. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Toni (Padilla) Montoya; his devoted children, Jake Montoya Jr. and wife, Juanita; Margaret Tafoya; and Isabel Peralta and husband, Norbert; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one sister, Carmen Rodriguez and husband, Israel. Jake was born and raised in Socorro. He served with the US Navy. On February 25, 1956 he married the love of his life, Toni and together they raised their family in Albuquerque. At Retirement, He and Toni returned to Socorro. Jake loved to visit and had many close friends. He adored having company and always had an “open door” for all his friends and family. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Spades. He was a fine mechanic and loved horses. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Jake was preceded in death by his son, Leonard Montoya, a daughter, Baby girl Montoya, three brothers, and one sister. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at 10:00 am at The San Miguel Catholic Church immediately followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 am also at The San Miguel Catholic Church with MSGR.
