Jacqueline Powers, an only child, was born to the union of the late Mahan Washington and Dolly Brown on November 22, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama.
She moved to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of 10 and attended Empire Elementary School and graduated from Glenville High School.
Bae, Jackie, Mommy, Ma, Mom, Grandma as she was affectionately called by family, worked as a homemaker, and in the banking industry before retiring. In 1967, Jacqueline married the love of her life, Dempsey. They enjoyed 52 years of a life filled with joy, happiness and a love known to no other before her passing on January 17, 2020.
In her younger days, Jacqueline enjoyed basketball and track and field. As an adult, indoor cycling, swimming and travelling became her passions. As the matriarch, she set unwavering guiding principles for the family. She wanted nothing but the best for her children and gave unconditionally to that end.
Jacqueline leaves to cherish her sweet memories, husband: Dempsey Powers, children: Robert, Adrienne, Kathy (Sheldon), Tara (Wayne) and grandchildren: Shelbe’, Savion, Alessandra, Aryanna and Kayla.
