Jake Barela, 77, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2017 at his residence in Albuquerque, NM.
Jake was born on October 20, 1939, in Socorro, NM to Jacobo and Tomasa Barela.
He joined the US Navy and following an honorable discharge worked for the city of Albuquerque Water department for many years.
He enjoyed horse races, sports, football, boxing, sweets, jerky, chile, menudo, and loved being with his sweetheart Lucy Encee, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his spouse Lucy Encee; daughter Patricia Eaton; grandchildren: David Chavez, Jacob Chavez and Alissa Eaton; siblings: Ronnie Barela, Doloras Kaehr, Pauline Marquez; and stepdaughters, Missie Lucero and Nicki Alonzo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and, brother Frankie Barela.
He will be greatly missed by his entire family and remembered forever!
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM
