James Edward "Jimmy" O'Bannon

O'Bannon , James Edward "Jimmy" 57, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2013. He was born in Clovis, NM on August 20, 1955 to John J and Hallie E. (Wilkerson) O'Bannon. James was a Socorro resident since April of 1994. He worked at Raks as a Yardman for about ten years before becoming a Dining Attendant for Chartwells at NM Tech. James was an avid gardener. He had a green thumb and could grow anything. He loved to travel and take vacations. James looked forward to "movie night" with his friends every week. He enjoyed collecting movies, especially Old Western movies with John Wayne. James also enjoyed collecting his TV guide, clocks and watches. James participated in the Special Olympics for the last seventeen years. He earned gold medals in many field events, meter races, cycling, and also the Softball throws. James was a friend to everyone he ever met. He was preceded in death by his mother, and his brother, Cleon O'Bannon. James is survived by his fianc� of ten years, Christine Schwartzenberg; his father, John J O'Bannon; his sisters, Linda Slack; Mary Grady; Rose Archer and husband, Ivan; and Virginia Fultz; his brothers, Bobby O'Bannon and wife, Debbie; and Ronald O'Bannon; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. James will also be greatly missed by his Tresco family and friends.
