James Warren Malcolm went to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the age of 91, surrounded by his family at his home in Rio Rancho, NM. He was born on April 20, 1927 in Battlecreek, MI to his parents Gladyes Hill Malcolm and Orley Malcolm, and was raised in Sault Ste. Marie,MI. In 1943 he enlisted in the RCAF from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He then joined the Army Air Corps in 1944. His service included time in Iwo Jima, Guam, The Philippines and Japan. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict in 1951. After 34 years of service to AT&T, James retired to Capitan, NM, and eventually Albuquerque, NM. He enjoyed spending his time outside, whether it was canoeing or just hiking through nature. James was also a HO Scale Model Railroad Enthusiast.
James is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Edith Hobbs Malcolm, and their three daughters, Cheri Lynn Quinn, Sheila Ann Ricketson and Mary Gail Juell; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and William Malcolm; his son, James Robert Malcolm; one granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Ahlswede; one great granddaughter, Kyleigh Juell.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018, 11:30 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Southern Chapel, 2400 Southern Blvd, Rio Rancho, NM, where a Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
