James L. Seeley, age 91 died April 1st, 2025. He was born April 13th, 1933, in Princeton, Missouri to James E. and Ruth M. Seeley. He was a loving husband and a father and will be missed by his family and friends. He was an avid gardener and long-time member of the Georgetown Men's Garden Club, The Austin Rose Society, and the American Rose Society. He developed some knowledge and skill working with roses, which he especially loved. He served as a volunteer at the Weslyan nursing home for over 25 years, taking care of their roses, along with his good friends, Arthur Carlson, and Waylon Kidd.
He studied at the University of Missouri and graduated with distinction in Political Science, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and several other honorary societies. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in Artillery, he served for over 29 years of Total service retiring in 1981 in Georgetown as Lieutenant Colonel in the Regular Army. He spent 9 1/2 years overseas in various assignments in Korea, Germany, Vietnam, Turkey, and Italy. He was awarded the Bronze Star in Combat Infantry Badge in Vietnam. The remainder of his service was in various stateside assignments, including the United States Military Academy at West Point and the Army General Staff.
James is preceded in death by his wife Helen, an army nurse who he married in 1960 and his brother-in-law Kent Pyle. He is survived by his children, James A. Seeley and wife Lorraine of Chattanooga, TN., daughter Lynda and husband David Michalk of Albuquerque, NM., grandchildren, James Steele, James Cole and Brittany Ann Seeley and Kristy and Dustin Michalk. He also leaves a sister, Mary Anne Pyle and family of Clinton,
