Jane Ghahate

GHAHATE- Jane Ghahate, 61, of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with our Lord Sunday, May 8, 2011, on the most befitting of days, Mother’s Day, while surrounded by her family and friends. Born Jane Jesse Gallegos on January 24, 1950, to David and Lucy Gallegos, as the eldest of eight children, she was a life long resident of Albuquerque, NM. She graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1968, then marrying James Ghahate in 1973, and becoming the mother to two sons, Eric, in 1974, and Ronnie, in1976. In 1979 she started her career as a 911 emergency operator, Jane retired from the Albuquerque Police Department in 2006 after serving for nearly 30 years and helping countless citizens, all while usually maintaining a second job. Being ‘Gramma Jane’ to Victoria and Tomas was her greatest role and one in which she truly shined. The overwhelming display of support during her passing confirmed her many strong and genuine relationships that she established throughout her life as a mom, grandma, mother in law, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and wife. Jane you will be greatly missed, unforgettable, and will never be replaced. Jane is survived by her parents, David and Lucy, her brothers and sisters, Sandi and her husband Jimmy , Davie, Carol and her husband Joey, Pat, Tommie, and Denise; her children, Eric and his wife Maria, Ronnie and his girlfriend Ebony; and her grandchildren Victoria and Tomas. She is preceded in death by her sister Darlene; brother Jerry; Grandma Jesse; and nephew Tommie. Reciting of the Rosary will take place at Garcia Mortuary in the Chapel of Angels, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.; A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Friday May 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona SE.
