Janet S. Dominguez

October 14, 1933 — July 9, 2017

Janet S. Dominguez, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at her home after a short illness. Janet was the 9th of 12 children born to Sotero Moises Sanchez and his wife Beatrice Aragon Ortega Sanchez (both deceased) on October 14, 1933 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Janet graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1950, and worked at the Famous Club Cafe. Janet worked her whole life before retiring from the phone company, and always worked around her son’s school schedule so they would never be considered latch key children. This included the start of her working a split shift at Montgomery Wards. Janet was a member of the Holy Ghost Altar Rosary Society.

On September 5th, 1955 Janet married Ray V. Dominguez (deceased) of Tucumcari, New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church. Janet and Ray were married 38 years.

Janet is survived by her four sons, Ray Vincent Dominguez Jr., Lawrence Edwin Dominguez (Karen Allen), Philip Gerard Dominguez all of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Matthew Allan Dominguez of Canyon Lake, California; grandchildren, Ashley Michelle (Allan Aguinaga), Paige Nichole Dominguez all from Laguna Hills, California, Matthew Allan Dominguez II, Joshua Erin Dominguez (Jackie Ortiz), Kristina Marie Lee (deceased) all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; great grandchildren, Arya Belle Aguinaga of Laguna Hills, California, Dillon Taylor Dominguez of Canyon Lake, California, Riley Ehrin Dominguez, and Jakobi Marcus, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is also survived by sisters, Ernestine Chavez, June Ziegenfuss (Larry), Juliette Dempsey; brothers, Herman R. Sanchez, and Eugene Sanchez (Dorothy Lucero); sister in law, Sofia Maes Sanchez; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Sotero Moises Sanchez, and Beatrice Aragon Ortega Sanchez; Canuto Ortega, Ernest Sanchez, Sotero Sanchez Jr., Orlando Sanchez, Albert Sanchez, Joeseph A. Sanchez; brothers-in-law, Bonifacio Chavez, and John C. Dempsey; sisters in law, Alice Quinn Sanchez, Mary Korte Ortega, Petra, and Linda Sanchez, and Agnes Sanchez.

A Rosary will be recited in Janet's memory at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 927 Arizona St SE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, July 21, 2017 by Father Tom also at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Inurnment will follow at 11:30 am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Mausoleum, 7999 Wyoming NE.

A Reception will follow at Post 49, 11007 Central NE (Central and Elizabeth).

The family wants to thank the hundreds that came by the house during hospice to say their goodbyes to Mom. She enjoyed seeing each and every one of you!
