Janet Hoffman Castillo "JJ", 61, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grammy, passed away after a short bout with cancer on January 26, 2021.
She is preceded in death by her father, Vincent T. Hoffman. She is survived by her mother, Jackie Hoffman, stepmother Carol Tinnin Hoffman, husband Daniel Castillo, sisters Jeanne Hoffman Campbell and husband Casey, Tana Hoffman Gonzales and husband Mike, Linda Hoffman Barela and husband Steve, stepbrother Joshua Tinnin, daughters Alexandria "Amarie" Castillo and Vanessa Sorenson, stepsons Danny, Alec and Matt Castillo, grandchildren Tristen and Tori Sorenson of Utah, Jackson Sorenson and Violette Silva of Albuquerque, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was born in Lewistown, Montana. She attended Sandia High School in Albuquerque. She proudly served in the Airforce as an Air Traffic Controller and in the Air National Guard for a total of 33 years of service before retiring in 2015. JJ had a passion for life. She lived for her faith, family, country and football-especially the Minnesota Vikings. She was known for hosting the best "Sunday Funday" during football season. Janet loved to travel; she loved music and baking. She was known for her open mindedness, selflessness, and dry sense of humor. She made everybody feel like somebody. She will be deeply missed.
A mass in her honor will be held Thursday February 11 at 10am, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Covid restrictions will be in effect. Internment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
