Janice was born in Goodhue Minnesota on 9/28/20 to Rudolph and Estelle Korn.  She closed her earthly eyes in her home of 64 years in Los Ranchos, New Mexico on October 6, 2015 with her children, Colleen Kelly, Berry Kelly, Paul Kelly and granddaughter Hannah Kelly close by. She proudly celebrated with family and friends her 95th birthday a week before her passing.

A veteran of WWII in the Women’s Army Corps she served in New Guinea, the Philippines and after her military discharge, as a civilian in Tokyo, Japan for a year after the war ended.  She returned to the United States in 1946 and married Marion B. Kelly (MB) who she met in Chattanooga, Tennessee before she went to the Pacific Theatre.  He served in the European Theatre. Theirs was truly a long distance romance.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marion B. Kelly, parents, Rudolph and Estelle Korn, sisters, Lucille Jeffries, Elda Luehmann, Carol Korn and brother Kenneth Korn.

She is survived by her daughter Colleen A. Kelly and her children Alicia M. Montoya, Joseph M. Montoya III wife Kassandra Montoya and Ian M. Wigington, J. Berry Kelly, his wife Cathy M. Kelly, sons Tyler S. Kelly and Nicholas D. Kelly, and her son Paul M. Kelly, his wife Linda Buchan and daughter Hannah C. Kelly.

Janice many times requested no services.  Cremation has taken place and she will be honored and placed to rest with MB at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM with full military honors.

If desired, memorials in her name may be made to a charity of your choice and are greatly appreciated. Suggestions for memorials include; Heartland Hospice, Homeless Women’s Veterans and Post-Partum Depression Research.

The family wishes to extend gracious appreciation to the Veterans Administration Home Based Primary Care who were most incredible in the care given to “Mom”.
