Jason Paul Mattax

Mattax, Jason Paul passed away peacefully on April 24, 2013 in Socorro, NM surrounded by his family and loved ones after his long battle with brain cancer (Glioblastoma multiforme). Jason was born in LaGrande, OR on July 5, 1983. He spent his early years in Concord, CA and the rest of his childhood in Sammamish, WA; graduating from Redmond High School. Jason moved to Socorro, NM where he attended New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology receiving his Bachelors degrees in Math and Computer Science, and Masters in Computer Science; he was continuing his education towards a Masters in Mathematics. Jason lived life to the fullest, even after being diagnosed with cancer. He enjoyed bike riding, hiking, and the outdoors; along with seeking a thorough understanding of all matters, including God. He was employed as a computer scientist for NMIMT. He served in his church and volunteered at the local food bank. Jason married Heather McNeil on July 18, 2009 who survives him. He is also survived by his parents, Brian & Sharon Mattax, his brother Andrew Mattax, sisters Esther & Abigail Ruggles, along with many friends, family and extended family in the Lord. All friends and family are invited to attend the funeral services to celebrate a loving and giving man who left his earthly home to be pain free and at peace in the loving arms of His Lord. A Graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 10:30 am in the Socorro Cemetery.
