Begay was self-employed welder. He loved to play baseball, volleyball and practicing traditional songs (NAC), and was a road man. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Begay; sons, Cory Begay of Twin Lakes, Tharen J. Begay of Farmington, Kyle McCray, Herman McCray Jr. of Twin Lakes; daughters, Kim Livingston, Kylynn McCray, both of Twin Lakes; brother, William Wes Jackson of Tohatchi; sisters, Lucita Begay of Tohatchi, Selcido Charley of Gallup, Mary D. Begay, Irlene D. Begay, Marlene Begay of Tohatchi. Begay was preceded in death by his parents, Deswood and Evelyn S.; sisters, Marilyn Begay, Christine Vanhorn; brother, Martinez Charley; grandparents, Guy Shipley, Jeanette Shipley. Pallbearers will Colbert Sherman, Michael Begay, Ivan Destea, Billy Destea Jr., Robert Lee Jr., Joel Lueppe.
