Cornell, Jay C. Jr.
On Saturday September 20, 2014 Jay unexpectedly passed into the arms of the Lord after suffering a heart attacked at his home. He was born in Amarillo, TX on October 26, 1948. Jay served in the US Army for 4 years; he received National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam campaign medal, and Good Conduct medals during the time of services. He was so looking forward to his retirement and having time to go fishing, traveling, and doing all the things he was too busy to do for 43 years. He owned Cornell Services Tree & Shrubs, Inc. along with his wife, Kenda Cornell. Jay’s special interest and hobbies were coin collection, fishing, casino visits, and Karate, was 5th degree black belt. Throughout the years, Jay donated to Friends of the Zoo, All Veteran’s organization, Animal Humane, and all Homeless Shelters. Jay was preceded in death by his father Jay C. Cornell Sr.; mother Sadie E. Cornell; and his brother. He is survived by his loving wife Kenda Cornell; son Ken Cornell; daughter Kimberely Van De Voorde husband Thomas; stepson Troy V. Evans, Brian A. Evans, Brandon K. Evans; siblings Jim Strode wife Margie, Joann Robertson, Brenda Lockwood, Linda Vigil husband Juan and 6 grandchildren Robert, Alexa, Mary, David, Brian Jr. and Azuree along with his beloved pets (dogs) Sheila and Hank (Hot Rod), they will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Daniels Family Funeral Services-Carlisle Chapel. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Reception will be held after the interment at the home of Jay and Kenda Cornell, 6251 Edith Blvd NE.
