Albuquerque - Jerry C. Ferris, beloved owner of Big O Tire Store and later Jerry's Tire and Service Center, passed away on June 11, 2024, at the age of 75.
Jerry was born on June 25, 1948, in Albuquerque, NM to his loving parents Charles A. Ferris and Emma Ferris. He dedicated 16 years of his life to Big O Tire Store before venturing out to establish Jerry's Tire and Service Center where he diligently devoted 19 years of hard work and dedication.
Aside from his successful career in the tire industry, Jerry was a proud military man. Serving as a Sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War, he exhibited exceptional bravery and skill. His service was recognized with numerous accolades including the Army Commendation Medal, Marksman badges, National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with DEV.60, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Purple Heart Medal.
In his leisure time, Jerry found joy in various hobbies such as hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the Route 66 Rodders Car Club and had a passion for auto racing. On any given day he could be found tinkering with his vehicles.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his surviving family: his beloved wife of 52 years Crystal Ferris; daughter Lisa Himebaugh and husband Josh Himebaugh; sister Magdalene Padilla and husband Paul Padilla; sister Lorraine Segovia; sister Marie Hoagland and husband Danny Hoagland; sister-in-law Carol Aguirre; as well as many cherished aunties, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He is now reunited in heaven with his parents Charles A. Ferris and Emma Ferris and his brother-in-law Juan Segovia.
Jerry's legacy will live on through the memories he created and with all who had the privilege of knowing him. A kind-hearted soul whose presence brightened the lives of many, may you rest peacefully dear Jerry.
The family would like to thank all of those who helped Jerry with his many projects over the years and in his never-ending quest to build, shuffle, and stack his cars, equipment, tools, and treasures.

A viewing will be held at Daniels Family Funeral Service- Wyoming Chapel, located at 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, ABQ, NM 87109, on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at 9:00am; with the Funeral Service to begin at 10:00am followed by a Reception at 11:00am. Interment will be on Thursday June 27, 2024 at 9:00am at Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501.
For those traveling to Santa Fe National Cemetery please do not arrive earlier than 8:30am. When arriving at the cemetery please use the left lane at the cemetery entrance. When pulling into the cemetery property pull up to the “stop” sign. There are two lanes: the left lane is marked “on the hour” services and the right lane is “on the half hour”. Please stay in your vehicles when arriving and the staff will escort us to the shelter where the committal will take place. The committal will begin sharply at 9:00am.
