On January 14, 2024, with his loving family by his side, Jerry Spear passed from this world to his forever home in Heaven.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Judy Bourguet-Spear; his son, Dean Spear (Jennifer), daughter, Cindy Schreiber (Mike); son, DJ Quezada (Kim); daughter, Robin Quezada (Jimmy); brother, Gary Spear (Susan); grandchildren, Matthew (Mary); Sarah Spear, and Michelle Garcia (Robert), eight great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Betty Spear.
Jerry was born in Albuquerque in 1940 and attended Highland High School. He worked at the Santa Fe Railroad for 12 years, and at the phone company for 32 years where he retired as a construction manager. He was described as hardworking and fair by those who worked with him – a man of his word who earned their trust and respect.
He served as the president of the Christian Rods and Customs (CR&C) Board of Directors and was the founding president of the Central New Mexico CR&C ministry where he served for over 30 years. The purpose of this ministry is to spread hope and the good news of the Gospel of Christ to hot rod and custom car enthusiasts around the world. Jerry was elated when God opened the way for him to begin using his pristine, national and local award winning 1955 F100 truck as a ministry tool to reach others. Once again, he knew that he had been blessed in a way that only God could.
Jerry was a prayer warrior, a humble man with a servant’s heart. He knew he was called to share his testimony with people who were hurting and lost, and often mentored others by sharing how God’s grace, mercy and unconditional love had changed him from the inside out. To Jerry, it was a honor to share what he learned about Jesus from his loving mother and grandmother. Jerry was also full of love and gratitude for the life-changing teachings he received from his Pastors whom he cherished and served at the Believers Center of Albuquerque for over 34 years – the same church in which he met and married his wife Judy, whom he loved dearly.
His legacy will long be remembered as a man who loved and served God, his family, and his friends with all his heart.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 1:30 pm. at the Believers Center of Albuquerque, 320 Waterfall Dr. SE, Albuquerque, 87123.
