Scanland, Jesse Burke PickettJesse Burke Pickett Scanland "Nana", 91, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Scan on October 19, 2012. Nana was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 18, 1921. She was the youngest of four children born to Jesse and Anna Pickett. She graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School in Wichita Falls, Texas where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Writer&s Club. She also attended Texas Wesleyann College. Nana married Elden Wilson Scanland "Scan" on October 8, 1945 in Wichita Falls. They moved to Albuquerque in 1960 and Rio Rancho in 1984, where she died in the family home surrounded by her family and friends. Throughout her lifetime, Nana worked at Zales Jewelry, Nazareth Hospital and the University of New Mexico in the Biomedical Communications Department. She was an avid reader, writer, poet, crafts maker, quilter and could spell almost any word in the dictionary in her mind. One of her expressions that she told those she encountered was "God love your heart." We will always love her heart and intellect; her soul and je ne sais quoi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elden, and eldest daughter, Judi. She is survived by her sister Vivian Hallford of Wichita Falls, Texas; son, Roger Scanland and his wife Sharon of Orem, UT; daughter, Sara Booth and husband Dick of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter, Penni Eagan and husband John of Portland, OR; son, Scott Scanland and wife Paulina of Santa Fe, New Mexico; 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren and counting. She is also survived by her cat, Tyegur and special across the street neighbor, Cindy Webb. She was blessed to have outstanding hospice care from Ambercare and caregivers Maria, Celina and Judy.
