Jimmie Sue Dobie

Dobie, Jimmie Sue Passed away at her home on September 9, 2013, surrounded by members of her family. She was born in Amarillo, Texas on December 18, 1930 to Wiley and Jimmie Mae Day. The Days soon moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she spent most of her early life at their beautiful family home in the South Valley, graduating from Albuquerque High School in 1949, and from the University of New Mexico in 1967 with a BS Degree in Elementary Education. She married Gale Rumbaugh in 1950. After several years, and now with three children, the family moved their plumbing business to Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada, where Jimmie Sue taught elementary school for sixteen years. After a brief marriage to James Dobie, she returned to Albuquerque and completed her MA Degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology at UNM in 1987. She then taught in the Moriarity Public Schools until her retirement in 1997. Her passion was teaching children with learning disabilities to read. An avid bridge player, she was also a skilled craftsman at her hobby of ceramics. She loved her life in the Vineyard, and the many close friends that she made while living there. She is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Gale Rumbaugh. She is survived by her children, Jane Ann Sollenberger and husband Dwight of San Diego, California, Mark Rumbaugh and wife Ann of Kooskia, Idaho, and David Rumbaugh and wife Sharon of Nanaimo, BC, Canada, and sister, Jane Calhoun and husband Del of Albuquerque; also by five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jimmie Sue�s life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 1:00 PM in the Vineyard Clubhouse, 6118 Edith Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mountain View Church 6601 Leta Rd NE would be appreciated.
