Vallejos, Jimmie
82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his home in Socorro. Santiago Carlos Vallejos Sr., or affectionately known as "Jimmie" was born in Polvadera, New Mexico on August 23, 1932 to Andres and Vivianita (Padilla)Vallejos, the seventh of ten children. He was a lifelong resident of Socorro. As a young man, Jimmie worked on a farm where his family made a living in Polvadera, New Mexico. He joined the United States Army in 1954 and was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Lewis, Washington. Jimmie returned to Socorro after his time in the Army where he retired from the Bureau of Reclamation after 23 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed visiting the casinos, and playing bingo and the slots, fishing with his family, and was an avid baseball fan. When his boys were little, Jimmie was their little league coach for many years and was also one of the first official umpires in New Mexico. He even had the unforgettable experience of umpiring for the Dodgers. Jimmie never met a stranger; he shared proud memories of his family and his passion for cooking. We all knew him as an individual of sociable conversation and we will greatly miss him and forever love him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Inez (Gonzales) Vallejos; his sons, James Joseph; and Jimmie Carlos Jr.; brothers, Manuel; Isidro; Raymond; Andres Jr.; and his sister Josie Healy. Jimmie is survived by his second wife of 22 wonderful years, Mary Sedillo; his brother, Johnny Vallejos; his sisters, Christine Garcia and husband, Joe; Susie Clubb; Della Celentano and husband Joe; his devoted sons, Danny Vallejos; and Mike Vallejos; his loving daughters, Annette Vallejos; and Lorena Schott and husband, Robert; his step-son, Leonard Sedillo and wife, Bernetta; his step-daughters, Renee Sedillo; and Mary Louise Rael and husband, James; and many other loving family members, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
