Jimmy L. Castillo 1948-2021

Jimmy Castillo born Oct. 5, 1948 a resident of Albuquerque went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on July 6, 2021. With his wife, his two sons and daughter-in-law at his bedside.

Jimmy served his country proud as an Army veteran during the Vietnam Era. Upon returning from the service he met the love of his life, Polly. Recently celebrating their 48th wedding anniversary and together 51 years. Jimmy worked at Alameda Mortuary (today known as Daniels) for twenty years. He loved the sport of Boxing, especially coaching his sons. Jimmy coached at the Golden Gloves Gym, Castillo Boxing Club and Albuquerque Parks and Recreation. Along with his wife, he was in the Music Ministry since 1974, after giving his heart to Jesus Christ. After attending Bible College, Jimmy earned his ‘Doctor of Music Ministries’ and ‘Doctor of Divinity’. Besides God, his wife, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Salomon Sr. and Louisa Castillo; brothers, Salomon Jr. and wife, Gloria, David and Sammy Castillo; in-laws, Dimas and Tena Tabora, Grandma Petra Tafoya; Anna Mendez and Rod Collins.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Polly; sons, Lawrence and wife, Rosa Castillo, Jerome Castillo, Paul and wife, Lou Ann Castillo; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, two sisters, Polly Laws and husband, Jim; and Angie Montoya. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and those that called him “Grandpa”.

A special thank you to New Mexico Hospice, his nurse, Amanda, Simplicity Home Care, and Delilah, his nurse aide for their kindness love and care.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 6:00-7:00pm with an evening service to follow at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. A final viewing will take place on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 am with a funeral service to follow at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. An Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
