Jo Ann Correll

Correll, Jo Ann Age 84, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 23, 2012. She was born on March 7, 1928 to Albert Carl and Ellen Faye (Latta) Bomholt in Wichita, KS. She grew up in western Kansas during the Dust Bowl days. Upon graduation from high school, she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Belen, NM. Where she met her husband, Charles Correll. They married on March 19, 1948 and were married 63 years before Charles' passing. Most recently, she had been employed by the J.C. Penney call center in Rio Rancho before her retirement. JoAnn will be remembered for her many talents which include painting, teaching painting lessons, garden club, Christian Women's Club, the Red Hat Society, her excellent seamstress skills, wonderful cooking skills, and so many other skills, too. Everything she did, she did well. Most dear to her heart was her involvement with First Baptist Church in Rio Rancho. She was the church cook for many years and prepared the Wednesday night meal every week. Mrs. Correll, also sang in the choir, and traveled with the church group to many places, including Thailand and Mexico. She was to join a group to travel to San Antonio this week. Her kind, loving and nurturing presence will be missed by countless many. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Correll in 2010, and her sister Margaret Soltis. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Brainard and husband, Dar, of Rio Rancho, NM, and Brenda Lee of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Shannon Peterson, Karen Quintero, Alyssa Brainard, Koleena Schmidt, Tara Brainard, Brion Lee, Megan Lee, and Bianca Lee; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gary Bomholt, of Topeka, KS. And numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church - Rio Rancho, NM, 3906 19th Avenue SE, Rio Rancho. Inurnment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho.
