Joan Denmark Tullar
November 8, 1933 — April 20, 2017
Joan Denmark Tullar passed away April 20, 2017 after a short illness. She was 83. She passed away quietly in her sleep at Anna Kaseman Hospice facility very much at peace with the world. At the time of her death she was surrounded by her husband and famly.
Joan was born in Ithaca, NY on November 8, 1933, the only child of Floyd and Lillian Denmark. She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1951. In June of 1953 she married Richard (Dick) Tullar who at the time was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge she worked to help put Dick through college in Washington, D.C. After he completed his schooling Dick and Joan moved to Albuquerque because he had accepted employment with what was then Sandia Corporation. Over the years, they had three children: Rick, Steve, and Lynda. She chose to be a stay at home mom until the children were old enough to be responsible for each other. She then went to work at APS as a secretary. They became avid RV’ers and square dancers. Joan lived a full and enjoyable life, visiting many places while traveling in their RV and spending most of her last winters at the Tier Drop RV Park in Wellton, AZ. She was extremely proud that her children all became successful and married well. She is survived by her husband, Dick; son, Rick (Jolene) their children, Richele and Ashten; son, Steve (Magdalena) their children, Elena and Alex; daughter, Lynda (James) Innis, their children, Samantha and Ethan. There are also four great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many.
A Memorial Service is being planned for Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope in Christ Church, 1605 Juan Tabo NE, Albuquerque, NM. June 13 would have been Dick and Joan’s 64th wedding anniversary. As was her desire, her ashes will be buried in June at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Anna Kaseman Hospice facility where she and the Tullar family received such wonderful care.
