JoAnn Carmelita Baxter

Baxter , JoAnn Carmelita 60, passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 13, 2014 with her loving family at her side. She was born in Socorro, NM on October 29, 1953 to Charles Thomas and Sally (Padilla) Stiers. JoAnn was a lifelong resident of San Antonio. She was an Administrative Assistant and the heart and soul of the 7th District Judicial Courthouse of Socorro and retired after 31 years. JoAnn was the kindest person you could ever meet, she gave so much of herself to everyone she knew. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. She was an avid reader and owned more books than the public library. Her family was her life. Her beloved parents, and her sister, Carol Gunther, preceded her in death. JoAnn is survived by her devoted daughters, Karolyn Baxter and Mikayla Trujillo Baxter. JoAnn will be greatly missed by her brother, Charlie Stiers and wife, Amy; her nieces and nephews, Sean Stiers, who was the very sunshine of her life; Page and Anthony Pomo; Tom Gunther; JoAnne Gunther; Gayle and Mike Carver; her devoted cousin, Irene Pargas, who stayed by her side until the very end; and many other loving family members and close friends. A Celebration of JoAnn's life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11:00 am at 7th District Judicial Courthouse in Socorro, NM. A pot luck style reception will follow, please bring your favorite dish, memories and stories to share in honor and reflection of JoAnn's life.
