He was born March 15, 1922, in St. Michaels, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Edge Water People Clan. Peshlakai died Dec. 31, 2009, in Fort Defiance. Peshlakai worked as a logger and was a peacetime veterans in WWII, a preventive maintenance with heavy equipment in road construction, and was employed with ONEO and N.T.U.A. until he retired as a carpenter. His hobbies included taking care of livestock, agriculture, carpentry and Red Lake Farming.
Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Peshlakai; sons, Joseph Peshlakai, Roger Peshlakai, both of Window Rock; daughters, Nellie Curtis of St. Michaels, Helen Peshlakai of St. Michaels, Marjorie Nez, Jeana Yazzie, Myrtle Peshlakai, all of Fort Defiance; brother, Sammy Peshlakai of Torreon; sisters, Irene Yazzie, Ella Mae Peshlakai, Louise Anthony, all of St.Michaels, Nellie Brown of Long Beach, Calif.; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Peshlakai was preceded in death by his sons, Tom Peshlakai, Paul Peshlakai. Arrangements are entrusted to: Tse Bonito Mortuary 16 Alma Dr.
