Joe Louis Williams
August 27, 1935 ~ December 15, 2014
Joe Louis Williams was born to Quintella Smith on August 27, 1935 in Wink, Texas moved to New Mexico in the early 70’s to pursue his career. Joe spent time working in Farmington, New Mexico and Alamogordo, New Mexico for companies such as Natural Gas until he traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico a few years later.
Joe worked for companies like Bob Myers, Albuquerque and Santa Fe security and was also security for University of New Mexico Department of Athletics. He opened several businesses, was a member of the Navajo Elks Lodge and spent his last years working at the Maxwell Museums of Anthropology. In his spare time you could find him at the horse track or at the Casino where he earned the nickname “New Money”.
On December 15, 2014 at the age of 79, Joe made his transition from this earthly life to eternity. He was preceded in death by his lifelong partner Vicki Peoples; brothers, Wardrell Johnson, Morvin Jones; sisters, Marybel Allen, Erma Jean Horbuckle, and Patricia Ann Smith.
Joe was loved and will be missed by all but especially by his children Michael, Robert, and Joseph Williams; sister, Birdie Lee Houston, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
