Joel Lee Collier, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at his home with his wife, Maureen, his daughter Jeannette, and his mother, Verna, at his side.
Joel was born in Enid, OK but moved shortly thereafter to Albuquerque, NM with his mother and sister. His father joined them after serving in the Korean War.
Joel served in the US Marines from December 1975 to December 1979 where he met Maureen Conlan and convinced her to move to Albuquerque, NM with him. They moved to Crestone, Colorado where they married on July 4th, 1981. They moved back to Albuquerque, NM in 1981 to begin their family.
Joel was a hard worker who worked a variety of jobs until he became disabled in 2010.
Joel was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert T. Collier; grandparents, Vernie Schwertfeger, Delbert and Vaudeth Collier; younger brother, Vernie Noel; father/mother-in-law, Thomas and Jeannette Conlan, brother-in-law, James Conlan.
Joel is survived by his wife, Maureen; children, Jeannette and Thomas; grandson, Jason Michael; mother, Verna; grandmother, Faye; sister, Cindy; brothers and wives, Vance and Joann; Vince and Tina; brother-in-law’s and wives Terry and Robyn Conlan, Kerre and Grace Conlan, Kevin and Barb Conlan, Patrick and Laurie Conlan; sister-in-law, Bridgit Conlan; multiple nieces and nephews, great nieces and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016, from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE.
Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 17, 2016, at 7:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Wyoming Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at 11:15 am at Our Lady of Annunciation Parish, 2532 Vermont St NE. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 10:30 am.
