Johanna Robinson

July 26, 1944 — August 29, 2016

Robinson, Johanna

Johanna Robinson, age 72, a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away peacefully
August 29, 2016. She was blessed to be surrounded by her loving family during her final days at home. Johanna was born July 26, 1944 in Wokingham, England to Walter Samuel Atchison and Joan (Fitzakerley) Atchison. She was the eldest of five children. After WWII, her parents returned to the New Jersey area of the United States. As a young teen of sixteen, Johanna was struck by a car in a hit and run accident. This event proved to be life-altering as she was not able to finish high school and endured discomfort from her injuries throughout the remainder of her life. However, Johanna possessed two special qualities: she was a fighter and she had an extra measure of motherliness. Because of these two characteristics, she devoted herself to her family as a young mother and did not let her ailments get in the way of caring for them. Johanna was also a very social person and worked as a waitress. In 1968, she met Roger C. Robinson, Sr. while she was working at the diner and they joined their families soon after that. She was also known as an extremely self-less person. She loved the holidays and decorating for each one of them. She enjoyed camping, bingo, music from the 50’s and 60’s, singing to her children and gardening. Johanna always and faithfully sent everyone birthday cards. She continued fighting against her illnesses and ailments while giving to her entire extended family until just a few days before her death. Johanna is survived by her father, Walter; her husband, Roger; her children- George Wilson, Dawne Wilson-Flippen, Earle C. Wilson, and Wendy Bonfini. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, including Ryan Robinson and Lorisa Abalos, whom she had taken in to raise as her own, 12 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her two sisters, Gail and Donna and a brother, Walter. Johanna was preceded in death by her mother, Joan; children; Lori Rebik, Roger C. Robinson, Jr., Scott Robinson and by her sister Margaret.  The family gathering prior to Johanna’s death was a wonderful “service” of sharing love and laughter mixed with some tears. At a later time, the family will place Johanna’s urn in the family cemetery space in the Cape Cod area where the family lived for 31 years.
