John Alestra

Alestra, John Age 93, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 after battling with cancer. He was born December 18, 1920 in Bayridge, NY. John is survived by his daughter, Joanne; son, Frank, and daughter-in-law, Deborah; grandchildren, Jason Gavin and wife Lisa, Frank Jr. and fianc�e, Lynette Kelly, Robert, Christopher, and Alicia; one great grandson, Anthony; and brother, Alfred. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1942 to 1944 until he was wounded during battle. In 1946, John married Angela Bolognia, who passed away in 2005 after 59 years of marriage. In 1975, John and Angela moved from NY to Belen, NM and then to Albuquerque in 1977, and have resided in Rio Rancho since 1984. John's hobbies was playing guitar, painting pictures, and wood working. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, NM.
