Bristow, John Lester
Age 91, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017. He was born in Francis, OK on January 25, 1926, to Edward and Allie Bristow.
John married the love of his life Dannye Harris on November 21, 1947 in Monahans, TX. They were married for 70 years. John began his career in accounting with Gulf Oil in West Texas in 1944. In 1964, John took a position with an oil company in Tripoli, Libya, and moved his family to Tripoli for 8 years. John retired from the oil industry in Midland, Texas. He and Dannye eventually settled in New Mexico, and have lived in Albuquerque for the past 16 years. John was an avid arrowhead and relics collector, combing through the sandhills of West Texas. He had a large stamp collection with stamps from around the world. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. John is remembered by all who know him as a true gentleman and compassionate person.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Bristow, Inez Barnett and Ima Chambers; brother, Earl Bristow; great grandson, Zane Crockett.
John is survived by wife, Dannye Bristow of Albuquerque, NM; son, John Rollins and life time partner Robert Y. Andrews of Chamberlain, ME; daughters, Jannye Bristow and husband Anthony Maddux of Roseville, CA, Julia Rivera and husband Louis R. Rivera of Corrales, NM; sister in law Carolyn Bristow of Dallas, TX. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces all who loved him dearly.
The family would like to thank the staff of Silver Wings Assisted Living for their years of kind devotion and loving care. The staff of Ambercare Hospice for their compassion and thorough gentle care.
Memorial will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. 10:00AM. Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
