John Michael Connell

Connell, John Michael 87, of Albuquerque, NM, died February 29, 2012. Mr. Connell was born September 14, 1924, in Jersey City, NJ, to James F. and Mary (Fallon) Connell. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Jersey City, he joined the Navy and saw action in the Pacific during World War II. Upon leaving the service, he joined the Jersey City Police Department. After forty years on the force, he retired in 1988 with the rank of captain and moved to Florida, where he lived until 2009. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Irene (Norton) Connell of Albuquerque; a son, James, of Albuquerque; a daughter, Mary Ellen LaMendola, son-in-law, Joe LaMendola, and grandson, Joseph LaMendola, all of Bayonne; and a son, John, of Albuquerque. Other survivors include a sister, Rose Azar, of Chapel Hill, NC; and a brother, Thomas P. Connell, of Belmar, NJ. A son, Kevin, predeceased him.
