John Cordner Doolittle

Doolittle, John C.

Born December 30, 1919 to Russell C. and Myrtle Cordner Doolittle in Des Moines, Iowa. Died age 94 on October 4, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in business and in mechanical engineering from Iowa State.  He served in the Air Force in World War II and the Korean War. John married Dorothy Teberg on December 24, 1942. After WWII they lived in Rochester, NY and he worked for Eastman Kodak. The family home for 30 years was a farm house which they remodeled in Mendon, NY. They moved to Albuquerque in 1987. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Thomas Doolittle (wife Leslie) and Martha McIver (husband Jack); grandchildren, Andrew, Heather, Brian, John, and Natalia; and nieces Margaret Ann and Anne. John was a member of Phi Delta Theta, Tau Beta Pi, and a B.I.L. of Dorothy’s P.E.O. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed tennis and volunteering at the NM Museum of Natural History. John was active in the La Vida Llena community where they lived since 1998. The family is very grateful for the loving care and special friendships Dad has had at LVL. There will be a service of life celebration at La Vida Llena Carter Hall on Thursday, October 9 at 10:00 AM at 10501 Lagrima De Oro Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
