John Frederick Grapp

John F. Grapp, age 88, went to be with our Lord, Thursday evening, October 17, 2024, surrounded by his family. John was born to Oscar F. and Rosina (Pierce) Grapp on a cold winter day, Feb. 18, 1936 at home. John attended Waverly School lettering in football, wrestling and track, graduating in 1956. On October 5, 1960 he married Eleanor Albers at Faith Lutheran Church, Shell Rock, Iowa. They had two children, Brian and Beth (Bill) Barham. John retired from the City of Waverly, Iowa street department. After a visit to family in Albuquerque, he said he missed the grandsons and wanted to move there. In 2000, John and Eleanor moved to Albuquerque .

John was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Waverly, Iowa and a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Albuquerque, NM.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, his son, Brian and daughter, Beth and her husband, Bill whom he loved and depended on for help, his much loved grandsons, Alex (Laurynn) Barham and Chris (Sonjia) Barham and soon to be born great granddaughter, Macie Rose.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Donna, LaVerne, Audrey, Darlys, Carolyn and a brother, William in infancy.

Memorial Service will be October 26, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church, 7550 Eubank Blvd., Albuquerque, NM, with visitation at 9 a.m. and Service at 10 a.m. with refreshments after the service. Burial will be later Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield, Iowa next to his parents. The service will be live streamed.
