Rev. John Willie (JW) Jones was born July 2, 1958 in Alamogordo, NM to Ruth and Frederick Douglas Jones. JW passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM. He is one of seven children. JW graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1976 and served one tour in the Army. JW was called to minister at a young age. He sang in the choir, and enjoyed his tenure as a Youth Pastor because he loved children. He was licensed and ordained June 14, 2009 and the same year installed as pastor to Ideal Baptist Church. His favorite hobby was fishing. JW is survived by his wife, Sonja, son JW Jones, Jr., only daughter Natosha, son Johari Frazier, son Jarrell Frazier and son Jermaine Frazier (preceded in death); his mother Ruth Jones, and grandmother Emily Mangram; siblings, Kenneth Ray Jones, Darlene Jones, Frederick D. Jones, Jr., Deborah L. Jones, Kelvin Jones and Diane Spinner; his grandchildren Ayana, Markiez, Jadian, Johari Jr., Amir, Mia, Caitlan, great grandson Messiah, and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, September 24, 11:00 a.m. at Strong Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
