John R. Korngiebel

Korngiebel, John Robert John, age 79, left this world to begin his new life on August 12, 2013. He was born in Danville, IL, on April 24, 1934, to the late Jack and Connie Korngiebel. He retired to Rio Rancho in 1999 and was a member of High Desert United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie; sons, Kenneth (Holly) and Paul (Jennifer); four grandchildren: Laura, Ben, Katie and Eli; sister, Janet (Don) Warner. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1957 with a BA in Economics and was employed by Hart Schaffner and Marx in Chicago. He served in the US Army in Panama for three years and attended Army Language School where he achieved fluency in Spanish. He earned a BS degree from the University of Illinois in 1963 in General Engineering. He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years in the Service Department, living and working in Venezuela, Spain and Switzerland as well as Peoria, IL. In his professional life, John held to a standard of excellence and earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He loved to play golf, was an avid skier, relished a good bridge or hearts game, and traveled the world. He organized mission trips to Mexico and supported several missionary efforts. His jokes and stories always had an audience and his unfailing sense of humor lasted until the end of his life. He loved his family and his Lord.
