John Marvin McSmith

McSMITH - John Marvin McSmith, 82, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 in Las Cruces, NM surrounded by his loving family. John was born on September 6, 1928 in Freeport, TX to John Robert and Annie (Johnson) McSmith. He is survived by his loving wife, Clifford Faye McSmith of Las Cruces; his devoted daughters, Barbara McSmith of Farmington; Kim Karnes and husband, Rocky of Las Cruces; his devoted son John McSmith of Medical Lake, WA; loving grandchildren Stephanie Blayne, and husband, Chris; Johnathan McSmith and wife, Sara; Clint Munoz and wife, Marlayna; McKensi Karnes; Morgan Karnes; seven great grandchildren; one sister Barbara Gibson of Socorro. John was a former resident of Socorro before recently moving to Las Cruces. He was graduate of the University Of New Mexico where he played foot ball and was drafted to play pro but declined to become a ordained Baptist Minister and deacon. John was member of the First Baptist Church in Socorro. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Marion McSmith and Paul McSmith. A Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Socorro, 203 Spring Street SW. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the church with Pastor Bob Farmer presiding. Interment will be held in the Socorro Cemetery following services.
