The family of John David Meister sorrowfully announces his passing on August 9, 2023. David passed away gently with his wife of sixty-one years, Martha, by his side. David suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease for nine years and is now at peace.
David was born on April 16, 1939, in Miami, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Clarence “Jack” Meister.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha, his sons John (Meg) Meister and Jim (Thao) Meister, and by his grandchildren: Laurel Schmuck (Daniel), Jake Meister (Nicole), Nadia Meister, and Helena Meister, and by his sister Nancy Weaver (Hollis).
David grew up in Albuquerque and attended Ranchos Elementary School, Washington Jr. High, and Albuquerque High School. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in the spring of 1962 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, he got married and entered the US Air Force, serving four years. The remainder of his career was in the aerospace and communications industry, from which he retired in 2003.
The family thanks all of those at Manzano del Sol long term care who so lovingly took such good care of David during his last year.
A service and reception honoring David’s accomplishments and his dedication to God’s work will be held October 28 at 11 AM, at First Presbyterian Church, Albuquerque.
