MONTOYA- John Andres Montoya, 82, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM was called home to our Heavenly Father on March 7, 2011. Mr. Montoya was born on June 24, 1928 to Max and Euesebia (Bernal) Montoya of Tome, NM. He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. After his service to our country, he then served the community of Fullerton, California as a police officer. He was the first Latino officer for the city of Fullerton. He was a strict, but loving father who instilled a hard work ethic into his children. He returned to the Tome and Albuquerque area where he raised sheep, goats, chickens, geese, hogs and pheasants. Mr. Montoya was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed travelling to Alaska to fish. Mr. Montoya was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Tony Montoya, Placido Montoya and Nano Montoya. He is survived by his son, Larry Montoya and his wife, Teresa, of Rio Rancho, NM; daughters, Betty Beck and her husband, Richard, of Chino Hills, CA, and Annette Montoya of Chino Hills, CA; grandchildren, Larry Montoya, Jr., Jeremy Montoya of Rio Rancho, NM, Richard Beck, Jr., Chino Hills, CA and Ashley Montoya of Chino Hills, CA; one great-grandchild; sisters, Frances Combest, Delores Montoya, and Louisa Montoya. A Viewing and Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until the beginning of the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1594 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Services have been entrusted to:
