John Michael Neff

John Michael Neff, born June 6, 1945, left this world on August 18, 2019. He is preceded in death by his beloved father and mother, Stephen and Margaret Neff. He is survived by his 9 siblings: Kathy Neff, Margaret Mortis (Harold), Tom Neff (Rose), Greg Neff (Pinkie), Mary Snow (Jerry), Julie Gregory (Dan), Terri Bottomly (Eric, deceased), Patty Wallentine (Mike), and Barbara Ducaj (Mark), and numerous nieces and nephews. Moving from Ohio with his family to Albuquerque in the summer of 1956, John considered Albuquerque his home. John attended Queen of Heaven and St. Pius X High School. Highly intelligent, John was always an independent, unpredictable soul. He has held various jobs in the city. Many of his skills were self-taught. He was a longtime and avid member of the Duke City Bridge Club. He participated in many tournaments, proudly obtaining his designation of Sapphire Life Master in the bridge community. He also shared his passion for Bridge and other card games with his many nieces and nephews, whom he schooled in the ways of a true Master. His laugh was unique and unmistakable. His nieces and nephews enjoyed and sometimes emulated that distinctive laugh as well, which will certainly ring on in their memories. John always had an affinity for cats and provided a loving home and companionship to many. He leaves behind his feline friend, Christie. For those that held him dear, John will truly be missed. John’s life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, at 2621 Vermont St NE, Albuquerque, NM, preceded by a rosary at 8:00 a.m. at the same location.
